A critical stakeholders meeting was held today at the Department of Community Medicine and Family Medicine, AIIMS Jodhpur, to address the pressing issue of heat and heat-related illnesses in the city. Organised by the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi, and the Department of Community Medicine and Family Medicine, the meeting brought together experts, government officials, and community representatives to discuss and develop a comprehensive approach to heat adaptation.
The meeting was a key component of the project "Economic and Health Impact Assessment of Heat Adaptation Action: Case Studies of two Indian cities." The aim was to create a shared vision for addressing the challenges posed by rising temperatures and to explore innovative strategies to enhance resilience and sustainability.
Participants discussed a range of topics including the economic and health implications of heatwaves, existing adaptation measures, and potential policy interventions. Through collaborative dialogue and strategic planning, the meeting sought to establish a clear path forward for effectively managing heat impacts and ensuring long-term community well-being.
